Though ransomware has been around for a while, experts are glad to see the government taking a larger role in this issue, especially since these types of attacks are becoming more sophisticated by the day and hitting more crucial infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI has confirmed that they are investigating over 100 various types of ransomware and goes as far as to compare the response of these attacks to that of the 9\/11 attacks. Attacks on Colonial Pipeline and JBS had a short-term impact on many American\u2019s access to food and gas supply, but it could have been much worse. This is further proof that a shared responsibility is necessary across government agencies, the private sector and the average citizen when it comes to cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p>With this announcement, experts hope that this will bring much more awareness and urgency for businesses and organizations when it comes to their cybersecurity posture.
