Last month, Alvaka Networks CEO, Oli Thordarson placed second at the Spec Corvette 2022 National Championship Race at Ozarks International Raceway in Gravois Mills, Missouri. Oli, who is currently the points leader for the West Region, was racing the Ransomware Rescue red and white car. In addition to being the CEO of Alvaka Networks, Oli Thordarson holds professional and amateur racing licenses with SCCA, Trans Am, NASA, POC, Spec Corvette and others, and has been racing since 2007.
“Spec Corvette is a racing series that promotes equal competition between drivers utilizing the 1997-2004 C5 Corvette platform. The core focus of the series is to develop driving skills, race craft, and friendly competition between gentlemen and gentlewomen racers where vehicle modifications are limited to a proven formulation.” You can learn more about Spec Corvette at their website.
The race went to full course caution due to the red #79 Corvette spinning out in front of Oli and getting stuck in the gravel trap, and the white Miata stuck elsewhere in the gravel. That put Oli back into third place. Then there was a two-lap sprint to the finish line after the caution laps. The black #04 Corvette spun inside at the exit of the same turn putting Oli in second. Oli then ran a blistering lap to finish second, 0.7 seconds behind the winner…making him the 2022 Spec Corvette national title runner-up!
Below is a video of the last lap of the race.
